The Taiwan special forces are a branch of the Republic of China Army and are the final defense for any country that tries to invade Taiwan. They are also called the ROC and are comprised of over 130,000 men.
Their History
The ROC was establishes as the armed wing of Sun Yat Sen's KMT. It was called the National Revolutionary Army. Their original mission was to take the China mainland from the Peoples Republic of China. However, after lifting the martial law in 1988, and the ensuing democratization, the focus of the ROC is on defending Taiwan, Penghu, Matsu and Kinmen from any attacks of the People's Liberation Army.
In recent years, the ROC has downsized considerably and their short term goals now include acquisition of armored vehicles, field air defense systems, joint C2 systems, MLRs and advanced attack helicopters.
